FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is SportsKey right for my child?
SportsKey assessments cater for all active and sports-minded individuals aged 9 and above.
How does SportsKey differ from other talent programs?
We focus on a science-based approach assessing movement, skill, decision-making, and growth, rather than just fitness.
Is SportsKey fair and accurate?
Yes; we use objective, evidence-based methods and account for maturation and relative age to reduce common bias.
Who will my child be compared against?
Your child is compared against other athletes of the same age and gender across the entire national SportsKey database.
What will we receive after the assessment?
You receive access to a personalised dashboard and a report outlining strengths, development areas, and suitable pathways.
Who reviews and interprets the data?
Australia's leading sports scientists and practitioners to ensure insights are both objective and meaningful.
Who will see my child's data?
If your child attends a sponsored event, the sponsoring organisation will see your child's data for that assessment. You control permissions for external organisations.
What is a SportsKey score?
A summary of your child's performance across all assessments, allowing for fair comparison with age-matched peers.
Is my child's data safe and private?
We use the most secure and private data storage technology available, with parent-controlled access permissions.
How quickly will we receive results?
Results are typically delivered through the platform within seven days of the assessment.
How much does it cost?
Costs depend on whether it is a sponsored event or an open athlete event.
What does an assessment involve?
It typically runs for 2.5-3 hours and includes fun, age-appropriate activities, including leadership, teamwork, and communication.
Where are assessments held?
They are held at local sporting venues or partner facilities. Information and reminders are sent via text and email prior to the event.
Are parents allowed to watch?
Yes; parents are provided a detailed overview by a team member and are welcome to observe from designated areas.
Why did my child's report change?
As new national assessment data is added to our database, benchmarks update to ensure the most accurate measures possible.
